Environmental Sustainability Policy

Focus Consulting is committed to operating responsibly and reducing the environmental impact of our business activities. As a chartered building surveying and construction consultancy regulated by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), we recognise our professional responsibility to support sustainable outcomes within the built environment.

Our approach to environmental sustainability is proportionate to the size and nature of our practice and focuses on responsible resource use, efficient working methods, and informed professional advice.

Focus Consulting aligns its environmental approach with RICS professional and ethical standards and supports sustainable outcomes through responsible business practices and professional advice.

Our Commitments
  1. RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICES

We aim to minimise our environmental impact by:

  • Using digital systems to reduce paper consumption.
  • Encouraging responsible energy use in both office and remote working environments.
  • Using energy-efficient equipment and lighting.
  • Recycling office waste in line with local authority guidance.
  1. TRAVEL AND EMISSIONS

Where practical, we seek to reduce emissions associated with business travel by:

  • Encouraging public transport, walking, or cycling.
  • Planning site visits efficiently to minimise travel.
  • Using remote meetings and digital collaboration where appropriate.

This approach balances sustainability with the practical requirements of site-based surveying work.

  1. WASTE AND RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

We apply the principles of reduce, reuse, and recycle by:

  • Minimising paper use.
  • Avoiding single-use products where feasible.
  • Ensuring responsible disposal of electronic equipment.
  1. WORKING WITH CLIENTS AND SUPPLIERS

We aim to work with suppliers and professional partners who demonstrate responsible environmental practices.

As Chartered Building Surveyors, we support sustainable outcomes by:

  • Identifying environmental, condition, and compliance considerations during surveys.
  • Highlighting risks related to durability, performance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Providing objective, evidence-based advice in line with RICS guidance.
  1. TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS

We maintain professional competence through ongoing CPD and stay informed of evolving legislation, standards, and RICS guidance relevant to sustainability and the built environment.

Governance and Review

Responsibility for environmental sustainability rests with the Directors of Focus Consulting. This policy is reviewed annually and updated as necessary to reflect changes in legislation, professional guidance, or business operations.
