This month, Focus Consulting Chartered Surveyors welcomed Miles from Hurst College for a two-day building surveying work experience placement at our Brighton & Hove office. During his placement, Miles gained first-hand experience of the role of a building surveyor and the wide range of services we provide.
Miles joined our surveyors on site visits, where he learnt how to use laser measuring equipment and understand the process behind inspections. He also reviewed architectural drawings, helped prepare reports, and gained an insight into project management.
Throughout the placement, our team shared their knowledge of the day-to-day responsibilities of a building surveyor. Miles saw how technical surveying, design, and project management work together to deliver successful projects for our clients.
Reflecting on his placement, Miles said:
“I really enjoyed learning how to measure with a laser measure and how site visits are conducted through observation and checks.”
He also said the placement broadened his understanding of building surveying. It helped him discover the wide range of career opportunities available within the profession.
