Today, we had the pleasure of hosting a highly successful CPD event right here at our office in Hove. The event attracted a significant number of building surveyors and property professionals. They attended with a keen interest in expanding their knowledge of dilapidations claims. Moreover, they were enthusiastic about engaging directly with industry experts during the event.

Firstly, the session provided an in-depth exploration of the practicalities of handling dilapidations claims from both legal and surveying perspectives. Attendees benefited immensely from the expertise of leading professionals in property litigation and building surveying. They gained valuable insights that they can apply in their work.

Dilapidations CPD

Our distinguished speakers, Gabrielle Moffatt from Dean Wilson LLP and Iain Staines from Focus Consulting, provided invaluable insights into the complex world of dilapidations. They covered a range of topics, including whether to opt for a terminal or interim schedule and exploring the landlord’s remedies for dilapidations, such as damages, forfeiture, self-help, and specific performance. Moreover, emphasis was placed on adhering to contractual deadlines and issuing notices of reinstatement promptly to ensure sufficient time for the completion of works.

In addition to the educational content, the event offered fantastic networking opportunities. Participants had the chance to connect with fellow building surveyors and industry peers, fostering new relationships and professional connections. Additionally, the positive feedback we received underscores the event’s success in delivering practical knowledge and creating a sense of community among property professionals.
